“The Lost Colony” is the oldest running play in America, and will receive a Tony Honor this June. The play centers round a group of English settlers led by Sir Walter Raleigh that landed on Roanoke Island July 4, 1584, only to disappear with only the engraved word "Croatan" left on a tree. This year will be the 76th year the play has run on the Outer Banks. The Tony Honors will be presented at a privately held reception on June 8th before the CBS tele-cast of the Annual Tony Awards held at the Radio City Music Hall on June 9th 2013. If you are in the OBX area between May 31th and August 23, it’s worth checking out!

Nearly $9 million dollars has been funded for the dredging of Oregon Inlet and its channels. Since Hurricane Sandy the Outer Banks inlet is only 2-3 feet in depth; making it nearly impossible to pass through due to shoaling. Commercial fisherman need 8 feet or more in order to keep their businesses operating.
The Outer Banks real estate market is experiencing a noticeably pick of sales and decline of inventory over the last couple years. Check out all the available foreclosure listings in the Outer Banks real estate market. Remember, just because it is a distressed property, doesn’t mean it is a good deal. For every one distressed property that closes, 5 other non-distressed properties close at equal or better value!
